Become a Certified Aquaponist

8 Ways to Monetize Your Qualifications as a Certified Aquaponist through Aquaponics University

Most Graduates Complete this Self-Paced ONLINE Course in Less than Two Weeks by working on the course only ONE hour per day and then go on to build their own Portable Farm!

There are many ways to monetize your new credential as a Certified Aquaponist.

1) The MOST SIGNIFICANT way to turn your knowledge into money is by becoming a Certified Aquaponist so you can learn all there to know about aquaponic growing in a Portable Farms Aquaponics System. After your training, you will have the technical knowledge and expertise to raise enormous amounts of organic food to sell locally to markets, restaurants, schools, and other organizations and institutions in your area. For example, you and six other people can raise 240,000 vegetables and 92,000 pounds of fish on one single acre of level ground.

2) Build your own PatioPonics Portable Farms™ (PPPF), or Portable Farms™ Aquaponics Systems (PFAS), and charge others to come to your farm (or backyard) for a guided tour.

We charge:
• $40 for up to 6 people in a tour
• $100 for seven or more in a tour

We have had bus loads of people show up for tours of our farms that traveled from all over the world! We gave tours to over 5,000 people in one single year! You will fast become the local authority on aquaponics in your area and have the opportunity for making money in the process.

Your own PatioPonics Portable Farms or Portable Farms™ Aquaponics System at your home becomes a source of ongoing income, FUN and potential customers and friends. Every person who takes a tour of your farm tells their friends and family and then word spreads very quickly about you and your farm.

Marketing note: We put invitations for tours on Craigslist under the category “Farm and Garden.” It’s free to list there and we attracted thousands of people who came for our tours. The ad is free and always attracts lots of GREAT media coverage and potential customers.

3) Installation of PPPF or PFAS Units is where you can make big money. More money is made in building the installations than any other facet of the aquaponics business except overall production of food over time. Your client buys their Basic Kits for either a PPPF or PFAS from Portable Farms Ltd, and the client also pays for building materials and you install the systems for them and keep 100% of your profits for the construction. Note: You need to have experience in construction.

For example, you can make:

$3,700 profit for building a small, backyard 10′ x 20′ Portable Farms Aquaponics System (PFAS)
$1,900 profit for building a single-tray 4’x’8’ PatioPonics Portable Farm (PPPF)

4) Become a speaker/authority about aquaponics. Having your own PPPF or PFAS Unit up-and-running automatically puts you in great demand as an authority on aquaponics. Speak to local Rotary clubs, Lions Clubs, garden clubs, schools and non-profit organizations and every other group that meets regularly; Program Chairs are always looking for interesting speakers and will welcome your informative talk on a subject that more and more people are talking about: Food and sustainability. There is not much money to be made in speaking, but there is great media exposure and marketing opportunities that attract potential customers and new friends, especially locally and in your region.

We’ll even supply you with the PowerPoint Presentation that we use for our presentations and we encourage you to personalize it with your contact information and to add photos of your own Portable Farms installation so your audience can see it and ask you questions about it.

5) Enhancing the productivity of your own PFAS Unit will make you money because the more effectively you run your own system, the more produce and fish you have to sell or share. This makes you truly an authority in operating a Portable Farm under local conditions.

The larger your farm, the more food you’ll have to offer locally at farmer’s markets or to stores or restaurants. A 20’x30’ PFAS offers enough excess to begin to sell food. A 20′ x 30′ unit produces 3,600 vegetables and 1,400 pounds of fish per year.

6) Become a sought-after Aquaponics Consultant. Once you have established yourself locally and you’ve launched a website and you’re encouraging media coverage, you will be called on as an Aquaponics Consultant. You can start charging at a few hundred dollars-per-day plus expenses and continue to charge ‘what the market will support.’

If you write well, you can also sell general articles about aquaponics all over the world to online sources as well as the print media. Aquaponics is a growing niche and there are very few people offering good materials and content for publishing purposes. Your printed or published articles also draw media attention and new visitors to your website.

7) Sales of PPPF and PFAS. You can buy a Technology License for PPPF or PFAS from Portable Farms Ltd, and sell the farms in your area as the only seller; as a Certified Aquaponist you will have a deep knowledge of the technology and what it can do for the new owners. This is a very lucrative business especially when combined with the installation of the Units.

8. Invitation to become active partner in new territories. With the knowledge and the connections developed through speaking, the media and consulting, you will be invited to be part of new territories and new installations. Your knowledge is an incredibly valuable component to bring to a business deal.

      Jaime,

You have started in the right place, but you need to do a great deal more research into aquaponics as a technology and how it will be a huge impact in the years to come. The best use of your time and money is to take the online training courses about aquaponics through Aquaponics University. . This way you will know and understand the technology so you can sell your services as noted in the article. Marketing is the key to success in the business and the more you know about the technology, the easier it is for you to demonstrate that you really can be of value to your clients and customers.

I trust this answers what you were requesting.

What great ideas on ways to monetize our skills!

    1. portfarms says:

      Craig and Hilary,

Thank you. You are too kind.
One of the greatest challenges for small farmers or any small business-minded person, is how to leverage the resources they already posses. The second is to figure out if they can add some new skill(s) to make their currently available skills and talents more relevant. What we have done is create a course to help anyone interested in the field of aquaponics to hopefully be able to derive an income from their knowledge.

      Stay tuned, it gets better.

I’m very interested with learning all that I can in aquaponics, and am looking to attend and be a certified aquaponist through your online courses. I just recently signed up in your newsletter and want to work with you guys. I’m currently collaborating with Joe Ledesma in creating deepwater culture systems, ordered Murray hallam’s DIY Aquaponic video kit and want to see and document how things will work out in the future. Thank you very much and I hope to hear a lot from both you Colle and Phyllis very very soon.

We are based in the Philippines. Let us know of possible events we can go and learn about.

      Dear Nikki and Joe,

Wow, we can feel your excitement for aquaponics. You can start the Aquaponics Certification course any time and if you both sight up to become Certified you will receive a 20% total discount. This means that instead of US$5,000 for the two of you each to become a Certified Aquaponist, signing up and paying together the total will only be US$4,000. The next on-site classes are in January and you will have had to complete the online course before you attend the on-site course.

Phyllis and I do everything we can to make insure pertinent and timely information is always available on the websites. We are constantly researching, testing and writing about aquaponics, the impact of climate change, the need for jobs and other related matters.

We look forward to working with you.

I would like to attend the Univrsity in Jan, 2012. Please send me specific information on cost ,where I pay,nd how to make this a reality for myself.

    Thanks, Jerry Ra

    1. portfarms says:

      Jerry,

The information you have requested is here. The Enclosed Aquaponics Course is US$2,500 per person and is required to be completed before you come to the on-site training in Puerto Vallarta. You can pay with PayPal, Visa, MC, wire transfer and, though we prefer US dollars, we accept most currencies.

Making a reality of becoming a Certified Aquaponist is done by paying for the course, completing the course, perhaps even coming to Puerto Vallarta for the on-site training (the on-site training is not required for Certification) and then using your certification to become a player in the field of aquaponics.

We look forward to having you become a Certified Aquaponics through Aquaponics University.

      I trust this helps.

      Talk soon.

      Sincerely,
Colle Davis, Inventor, Portable Farms™ Aquaponics Systems
